Your acne didn’t just happen. There was a cause for it. And if you follow the right path eliminating acne at the root cause, you can be rid of it forever.
I suffered from chronic, above-average acne and scarring since I was fifteen years old. I had a temporary break from the torture thanks to the birth control patch, Ortho Evra when I was 20-yrs old, but that’s another horror story.
Regardless of what you may have heard, read, been told, or how stubborn your acne is right now, you were never meant to suffer from acne indefinitely.
The truth is your acne really can die away from you–permanently.
It just all depends on you.
I’m not claiming to be any kind of expert on acne.
I am someone who struggled with acne, so I know exactly what it’s like to have it. So, even though I’m not claiming to be an acne guru of any kind, I can say this: I have been blessed enough to uncover the fundamentals of acne from countless of sources, and have been able to eliminate my acne at its root cause. Over the course of 8 years, I’ve researched all things pertaining to acne in books, interviewed and worked with different health coaches, healers, doctors, and naturopaths. Everyone with chronic acne can attest that they’ve tried everything for their skin and I’m no different. I’ve almost literally tried everything for my skin–topical and internal. I have tried so many things and followed so many different practices, and from there I just evaluated everything I tried and judged them by the results they gave me. I kept what worked and discarded what didn’t.
I truly want you to have clear skin, too. I want to share what I’ve learned, and what has helped thousands upon thousands of others who have applied the information I discovered to their lives. In addition to stopping acne, I want to help you gain an understanding of your body and why you’re breaking out. I’m not going to skimp on details in my world. The main purpose here is to help, and I can’t do that by hiding information from you.
Much of the information I provide you may have heard before. Maybe you even tried some of these things but failed to get the results you were hoping for. Don’t throw in the towel. I’m here to help. It’s very important to understand how these things fit together to unlock the acne combination. Just like a combination lock, if any number is missing or is wrong, the lock will not open. Healing naturally from acne works much the same way. One piece of information alone will not cure your acne in most cases. It’s how all the pieces work together that’s the key.
True Cause Of Acne
In order to get control over your acne, you must first have a correct understanding of what’s causing it.
Allow me to shed some light on some common beliefs about acne and its causes:
- Acne is not caused by genetics. However, your genes do come into play when your body is compromised by factors such as stress, bad diet, lack of sleep, and just overall lack of care.
- Acne is not caused by bacteria, though this can certainly aggravate it.
- Acne is not directly caused by overactive skin glands, though that excess sebum (fancy word for oil) doesn’t help the situation.
- Acne is not caused by dirt.
These are influences, not causes. The very root of all acne, be it facial acne, cystic acne, bacne, adult acne, blackheads, or whiteheads boils down to just two things:
- Imbalanced hormones
- Congestive toxins in the blood and lymph system.
We’re going to be exploring these two causes of acne thoroughly, in minute detail throughout this blog. In doing so, you’ll gain an understanding of your skin and your body, and it will give you some guidance throughout your clear skin journey.
Things To Be Aware Of About Curing Acne
I’m constantly asked how long did it take for my acne to cure to the point where I no longer break out and if I do break out, it’s just maybe one bump here or there on my face. My answer is always the same and no one (understandably so) likes to hear it. The answer: Years. Eight to be exact.
Now, before you get discouraged, hear me out. The reason it took so long is because of me and my situation. Everyone and everyone’s situation is different. When I started on my acne journey, I only had a tell-all acne cure book to refer to. I wished so desperately that I had someone–an actual person–who had been through the same thing and overcame it that I could grill about their journey. If I did have that someone in my life, that would’ve been my first question to them as well: “How long before you started seeing results?” It’s a legitimate question. Anyone with acne would wanna know how long until you got your skin under control. The answers I got from my book and other sources were pretty much synonymous with,
“It depends.”
“It depends on your situation.”
“It depends on you.”
Eight years is just how long it took me to break totally free of acne. The major mountain I had to battle in my quest for my miracle with my skin was food. I learned that I had to change my inflammatory diet to one that supported healing, and this was my biggest struggle. How in the world was I supposed to give up macaroni and cheese, stuffed-crust cheese pizza, cheeseburgers, and bacon after decades of eating–and loving them? I’d try to the right thing by my diet, and once I cleaned up my diet, my skin began to look all nice and pretty. The problem though, was that I was inconsistent. I kept relapsing and going right back to the junk food that broke me out in the first place once my skin cleared up. For years I did this. Finally, it wasn’t until I developed uterine fibroids that I fully accepted that my body simply couldn’t take certain foods anymore, and I started to become consistent with eating electric, healing foods. This is why my acne took years to completely heal. I had a hard time breaking free of inflammatory foods.
I then had to become educated about electric, healing foods. I found out the reason I was eating a healthier and even a plant-based diet (well, mostly), but still continuing to break out was because I was in need of a really good detox, and I was eating plant-based toxins. So, I know how it feels to clean up your diet and give up a lot of food you love only to continue to break out. That exact thing happened to me. It’s frustrating and utterly maddening!
It’s unfortunate, but healing naturally from acne takes time. It just does. The only way out is through it. Understand, your body has suffered years of abuse probably from bad diet, and now that abuse is showing up as acne. Since it took years for your body to get to this state, it’s going to take a while for your body to reverse this. Everyone is different. What took weeks, maybe a month for someone, could take several months to years for another person to break bad habits that are affecting the skin.
So, What’s It Going To Take?
When healing naturally from acne–from any inflammatory disease, it’s going to take some grit and determination to send it packing. Healing naturally from acne requires education and pretty much a total lifestyle change. If you have acne, there are a few things I already know you’re suffering from that are also affecting the health of your skin:
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Self-Esteem or Self-Image Issues
How is a person supposed to endure acne and not have these issues?
You’re not. After all, you’re not a robot.
So, what do you do then? Two things.
First, you fight back. You take control of your body. You start by seeking education from the people who have been in your shoes and have overcome the issue. And guess what? You’re reading from someone who knows a thing or two about acne, what it’s like to have it, and how to overcome it.?
From there, you commit yourself to yourself and your healing. If you’ve already started down this path with dietary changes and supplements, this is great! This means you already have some knowledge and level of awareness when it comes to your health. For those of you who haven’t started on that path to a healthier lifestyle, no worries! Better late than never. Skin health requires a total lifestyle change. Healing from acne goes hand-in-hand with healing from all the other stuff: the anxiety, depression, the stress. You even get a chance to heal from things you’ve repressed and don’t realize are still affecting you. And the amazing thing is in healing from all these things, the self-esteem issues naturally get healed too. All of these things are affecting the health of your skin. Don’t doubt this healing process. Your curiosity for the cure is leading you on the path of greatness and healing. It will happen for you. Stick with me. I’m here to help make that happen for you.
You just need to keep that fire of yours burning. That fire for the healing that is rightfully yours. This pretty much goes with the commitment to yourself for your healing.
Ask yourself these questions.
- How much would you like to look in a mirror without wanting to cry because acne has taken over?
- How badly do you want to feel confident in your own skin? (pun intended)
- You deserve to feel confident in yourself and the way you look. Just what are you willing to do to get these things back that rightfully belongs to you?
- How far are you willing to go for your skin to be a clear reflection of all the healthy changes you’re making? Or, if you haven’t made any health changes yet, are you willing to do so for the sake of not only your skin but your overall health?
The answers to these questions will help you to keep your fire for your healing burning.
The truth is, like any dream, you have to have a hunger for the cure of acne.
It’s also going to take patience.
And faith that it’ll happen for you.
And when you feel ready to give up (expect times like that; They will happen), it’s that fire, that burning faith that you can and will heal from this that’s going to get you through, even if you don’t always feel it as strongly. You may wanna cry at times. Go ahead. Give yourself permission to be human and do it. You may wanna scream on this journey. Go right ahead and release that stress. You may even feel very strongly that you wanna give up.
But you know you can’t. You know you can’t quit on yourself. Keep going. It’s hard, but everything worth having usually is. And clear skin is definitely worth having. As long as you keep going, you’ll eventually get control of your skin, I promise.
