One of the most common questions I get asked about my fibroid journey is How long does it take for uterine fibroids to be eliminated? And I give the same answer to everyone who asks me: It really depends.
Depends on what? Well, mainly, on you. The big question is what else are you dealing with besides uterine fibroids? Nearly every woman who is diagnosed with uterine fibroids has some other issues they’re dealing with outside of the fibroids. For instance, when I was first diagnosed with fibroids, I was also dealing with candida, parasites, gut issues, bad recreational habits, stress stress, and more stress, anxiety, bacterial infections, an addiction to a crappy diet, and who knows what else. Every single one of these things greatly affects your ability to heal from uterine fibroids, and it’s important to note that they all take time to conquer.
Diet is especially key in healing uterine fibroids, and as I just stated it takes time to get ahold of your relationship with food. There are so many health coaches, nutritional coaches, and certified nutritional specialists who speak on uterine fibroids and how to heal from them as well as the awful things that come along with having fibroids, such as painful periods and heavy bleeding. I’m not here to discredit anyone or their expertise. I’ve been in the healing ministry for a long time now. Long enough to know that when it comes to healing, everyone is different, everyone’s approach will be different, and everyone has a difference of opinion. I’ve experienced a lot, I’ve seen a lot, and I’ve learned a lot.
I am a woman who has been through some of the worst that uterine fibroids had to throw at me and has healed considerably from the disease, and has coached quite a few women through their own fibroid dilemmas, I can confidently say that I know a little something about what it takes to heal from fibroids because I’ve walked that walk. And no matter what anyone says about this subject, your diet matters. A lot.
Nearly every expert in the field of natural healing agrees that diet is one of those factors that determine how fast and how thorough you heal from fibroids physically. In all my journey with uterine fibroids and the differences of opinion from the many experts I’ve consulted and worked with, one truth cannot be denied: it is my unwavering belief–based on my experience and the experience of others–that the more raw vegetables and fruit (especially fruit) that you eat, the faster your body eliminates uterine fibroids.
Treatment Vs. Detoxification
Even before I went on an all raw food diet, there’s no doubt the fibriods that invaded my body have shrunk. My husband and I both could see it in my belly, and I could feel the difference when I palpated my stomach. There is a noticeable difference. According to my last doctor’s visit in January 2021, the largest fibroid present went from 17cm to 7cm. I’ll take my victories however they come! I was able to achieve this victory from fasting and cutting out dairy, sweets, enriched flour products, and animal flesh. A whole food plant-based diet that included cooked food is how I’ve been eating for years now, up until January 2021, because it was in January 2021 when I started my raw food journey.
When I tell people that I’m eating a raw food diet, they can’t imagine why I would do such a thing. To many people, especially the people I’ve grown up with and even some members of my family, eating nothing but a raw food diet is crazy. They can’t imagine why on earth would someone put themselves through eating rabbit food only for however long. The very thought is just nuts. That’s because they haven’t experienced the true healing power of food as I have. I was led by the Holy Spirit to start a raw food journey. And even though it can be a little… challenging at times (I admit, I have not been perfect) it’s worth it, because the rewards have been tremendous.
If I suspected it before, I am a complete believer now. Consuming raw foods along with the right healing herbs makes a world of difference for ladies with fibroids. This kind of nutrition will indeed revitalize every system of your body, cleanse all kinds of toxins from your body, and heal the actual cause of fibroids. We as human beings basically have two choices when we develop fibroids–or any condition or disease: Treatment or Detoxification.
If we choose the treatment route then the choices that comes with that are pharmaceutical meds and surgery, and even natural medicine, which uses products made from natural sources to treat the symptoms. We know these things as herbs. I’m pretty sure we all know a little something about this method of healing. I’m fairly confident that we all have taken some type of prescription medication or healing herb at some point in our respective healing journeys. There are several problems with these traditional methods. One problem is that it usually works for a while, but then your body gets to a point where the meds and herbs seem to stop working. Another problem with this type of healing method is it seems to only treat the symptoms, never the root causes. So, if you don’t address your diet at all or very little, then you’re basically treating the fibroids and/or their symptoms. The only way to dig deep into your tissues and cells in order to restore them to health is through detoxification.
The alternative to treatment is Detoxification. Detoxification has been used for hundreds of years by hundreds of thousands of people and even animals worldwide, and it has restored health and vitality to their physical, emotional, and mental bodies. Detoxification has always been at the heart of true healing because it addresses the true cause of the disease. Disease results from what we eat, drink, breathe, put on our skin, what we think and feel, and spiritual genetics or covenants of our bloodlines, and guess what? Detoxification addresses all of these factors. Detoxification involves the understanding that the body heals itself, I thank God for instilling that ability within our bodies when He created us!
I’ve done a LOT of detoxes over the years. None of them are very fun to do, but the rewards of doing them have been fantastic. Everyone can participate in a raw food journey. I hear so many people saying they cannot do it. The hardest part of detoxification is working with the mind. I’ll admit, gaining control of your mindset can be a little tough. But, on everything if you can gain control of your mind, then you’ll be unstoppable.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t want to obey the Holy Spirit’s guide to follow a raw food diet. Like others around me, the thought of eating nothing but raw food indefinitely was extremely unappealing, but I must say, eating raw food has proven to be very significant in my healing. Not only can I see the difference in my body, including my menstrual cycles, but I can feel the difference in my body too.
Uterine Fibroids & A Raw Food Diet
Our bodies are very complex machines, but keeping them healthy is actually pretty simple. It is 100% possible to heal from uterine fibroids with a raw food diet. That’s opinion AND fact, but more so fact. Unfortunately, our upbringing on the absolute wrong foods (not to mention other toxic emotional stuff that we go through) has created some strongholds in us that need to be addressed and broken before we can begin to heal and get back to our true selves. I’ve read about this type of healing–healing on every level, and I always believed it was attainable, and here I am actually experiencing it, and it is miraculous. And it is entirely possible for all of us.
The relationship with uterine fibroids and diet is critical. Since so many people choose to eat a mostly inflammatory or acid-forming diet, a metabolic condition called acidosis begins to take place in the body. When acidosis happens, acidic-type hormones begin to secrete in overdrive.
Here’s how it works: During that time of the month, women produce a lot of estrogen and even some testosterone, which are actually acid-type hormones. However, this is supposed to happen so we can have our periods each month. So, each month ovarian estrogen is produced in large amounts in order to get the inner lining of the uterine wall to shed, AKA your period. What is not supposed to happen is the saturation of these hormones in your bloodstream before, during and after your period, which is what’s causing a LOT of feminine problems for women. Estrogen and testosterone are naturally counterbalanced by a the heroine hormone known as progesterone. Progesterone, along with other steroids that it works with, are anti-inflammatory. So, when the acid-causing hormones like estrogen and testosterone are over-produced, and/or they’re not balanced by the progesterone or the other helpful steroids, then inflammation in tissues happen.
So, you can begin to see how inflammation is developed in the body through diet and hormone imbalance. This inflammation can lead to so many problems such as tissue death and, you guessed it–fibroids.
A living, raw food diet on the other hand energizes the gonads and the glandular system. We’ve already covered the importance of a healthy glandular system as it pertains to fibroids, so it brings your body into balance and makes it work better. A raw food diet is also an anti-inflammatory to tissues and organs like the uterus and the prostate, making it a great healing tool for your reproductive system.
What To Expect When Starting A Raw Diet
Once you start a raw food journey, you’re going to go through some things. Your body is going through some major changes, so you’re probably going to look and feel pretty different. Here what to expect when you start a raw food journey:
- Nausea
- Light-Headed
- Malaise
- Cravings
- Pain in certain parts of your body that has been weakened over the years.
- Breakouts or lesions on your skin
- Bowel changes
- Gassy
- Increased urination
- Flu-like symptoms such as sneezing, increased mucus production, runny nose, fever, etc
- Bloating
- Weight-loss
- Emotional changes. Moodiness, irritability, and crying are all a natural part of the process. Don’t fret over this. With you removing all those toxins stored in your system, you’ll also be detoxing old stored emotions. Just experience each emotion you uncover and come face-to-face with them. Accept them. Deal with them. Understand it’s all part of the healing process.
- Social Changes. You’re gonna have to make some lifestyle changes in order to support your new healing lifestyle, especially when it comes to your friends and family. Chances are, no one else is going to be making these changes with you, so you’ll have to do everything in your power to protect your new way of living, and sometimes that may mean skipping social gatherings, or eating before you go.
How To Start A Raw Food Journey
Change your mind. Start there. Download my freebie e-book: Health and Wellness: Where To Start for some awesome and doable tips on how to start a healthier lifestyle.
In the meantime, here are some additional tips on beginning a raw food diet.
- Identify your goals. What is it that you want? Healing from fibroids? To feel better? To lose weight? Whatever your goals are, identify them, write them down and place them where you can see them every day. That way, they become a reassurance, something you can focus on, and once you achieve it–watch out! Your confidence level will shoot through the roof!
- Start slowly or at a reasonable rate. Be real with yourself. Set realistic goals. Can you really start a raw food diet cold turkey? If so, awesome!! If not, then ease yourself into the lifestyle, little bit by a little bit. Give up sodas and smoking (yes, that includes weed) one day at a time. For instance, if you drink sodas, alcohol, or smoke more than once a day, then each day drink or smoke one beverage or one blunt or one less cig a day until you get to a point where you’re not smoking or drinking harmful beverages a day.
- Be compassionate to yourself. Eating a raw food diet only is tough! Let’s just admit it. It’s tough! Most people are bound to make mistakes in their journeys. When/if you do, try not to beat yourself up. You’re human and you’ve just come out of a toxic, addictive lifestyle that you’ve lived for years and years. Be good to yourself and give yourself some compassion if you mess up or get off track. With you being kinder to yourself, it makes it a little easier for you to stick with it, and achieve your goals.
- Don’t give up. You’ve gotten off track? Get back on. Fall off 20 times? Get up 20 times. Fell off last year during COVID and haven’t gotten back on track since? Start now. No matter how many times you fall off, get back on track and try a little harder. I promise you, this is the story of my life. If you guys only knew how many times I started, and stopped, and then started back again, only to fall off again. But as long as you reconnect with your Why, whatever it is that made you want to start in the first place (it can be a couple of Whys) you’ll always get back up–each time, a little bit smarter and wiser, trust me even if you don’t listen to yourself–and push yourself a little bit harder the next time around.
- Don’t do it by yourself. God will help you. Don’t leave God out of your journey. He wants to help you, especially during the times when you’re weak and feel like you just can’t do it. You can! You can do all things through Christ, who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13). And that’s exactly what He’ll do for you on this journey. I’ve wanted to quit too many times to count, but as soon as I started praying to God, He gave me the strength to keep on going, and He’ll do the same for you. He’ll be there as you’re confronting those emotions you suppressed that are going to start coming to the surface for you to deal with. He’ll help you heal through them, and there’s no other healing like that which comes from the Lord.
